I grew up on a grain farm in DeMotte, Indiana and have 5 brothers and 3 sisters. My husband, Phil, is a native of this area and has 4 siblings in town. He works in the office of Precision Inc. as a power transmission specialist. Our daughter, Lindsay, graduated from Calvin College and is married to John Feenstra. They live in Grand Rapids where she works in commercial photography. John owns a landscaping business. They have one child born in Oct. of 2009-our first grandchild-Adelyn:) Dan graduated from Dordt and works in the office of Precision Inc. as an applications engineer. Matt is a graduate of Dordt college and Mercy College of Health Science. He is a Nuclear Medicine technologist for the Iowa Clinic. Joseph graduated from UNI with a major in graphic technology/communications and is in Oceanside, California looking for employment in his field.
I've always had a soft heart for the middle school age. It's can be a challenging time with a lot of changes happening at once. They're quickly becoming independent and leaving childhood behind. I appreciate the tremendous energy and creative sense of humor of middle schoolers-it keeps me highly entertained! I'm always amazed at the spiritual maturity evidenced by so many of my students.
Some of my favorite Bible verses Include:
Romans 8 :26,
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express."
Ps. 46:10
Be Still and Know That I Am God.
Ps. 121: 1,2
“I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth.
