*I am in my 39th year of teaching (my 32nd at PCGS) and continue to enjoy the daily joys of working with children!
I have been married to Bruce Groenendyk since July of 1980 and for most of those years we have lived on the Groenendyk family farm.  (We spent 1 year in Sioux Center, IA, and 3 years in SW Minnesota before moving here.)  The Lord blessed us with two sons:  Alan, who is now 32, and Nathan, who is 29.  Alan married Lindy Talsma on Dec., 19, 2009 so we are now blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law.  Alan and Lindy reside in Jenison, MI.  Alan works as an area manager for Grand Rapids Chair ( furniture company) in Byron Center and Lindy is a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids.  They were blessed with a baby girl, Natalie Grace, on August 25, 2012,  a son, James Ryan, on July 29, 2014, another son, Joseph David, on July 5, 2016, and another daughter, Jana Brooke, on May 30, 2018.   Nathan is in Phoenix, AZ, teaching Preschool-8th grade music (vocal and instrumental)  at Phoenix Christian School.  For part of the summer he comes back to Iowa and works for the grounds/maintainance crew at the Pella Historical Village. He also composes music throughout the year.
My hobbies and interests include gardening and helping my husband with livestock, running, biking, driving antique tractors, reading, and music (singing, playing organ, piano, and clarinet).
I love the Lord, the children and staff at PCGS, and teaching!  The daily variety, challenges, and joys make every day a new experience.  It is such a blessing to let the light of God's Word shine through all subjects and aspects of the day.  A favorite Bible passage of mine is Romans 12:9-21 because it provides such a complete set of guidelines for daily living.
