Spanish Immersion Preschool General Information

  • This class meets at Pella Christian Grade School
  • The class meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30-11:30 p.m.  A total of 94 sessions are offered during the school year.
  • The emphasis in Spanish Immersion Preschool is to immerse children the Spanish language while developing skills in physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and spiritual areas.
  • This class is designed as a one-year program for children to attend the year prior to attending Spanish Immersion kindergarten at PCGS.

Spanish Immersion Preschool Curriculum

  • The curriculum incorporates themes and Spanish language acquisition guidelines from add.a.lingua and incorporates elements from Christian Schools InternationaI Bible preschool curriculum, Handwriting Without Tears, and Enhanced Alphabet Knowledge.
  • Assessment is formally conducted in the winter, and spring with parent-teacher conferences held following the winter assessment.  Students are assessed in all areas of their development. Academic elements are assessed in Spanish.
  • The assessment document is being refined under the guidance of Lori Eekhoff, early childhood specialist from Heartland AEA.

Spanish Immersion Parent Volunteer & Snack

  • Spanish Immersion-having a parent that provides the snack is the best option to keep tuition affordable.
  • It is ideal but not always necessary to have a third person.
